Physical Setting & Preparation
Find a quiet space outdoors where you can feel the early spring air on your skin. If possible, sit near budding trees or emerging plants. If weather doesn't permit, create an indoor space with fresh flowers, sprouting plants, or images of spring renewal. Sit comfortably on the ground or in a chair, with your spine straight but relaxed. Place your hands palms-up on your thighs. Take three deep breaths, feeling the cool spring air enter your lungs and warm as it leaves your body.
Opening Invocation | Fosgladh
"A Mhàthair na Talmhainn, tha mi a' gairm ort air maduinn earraich seo. Stiùir mo shlighe, fosgail mo chridhe."
"Mother of the Earth, I call to you on this spring morning. Guide my path, open my heart."
"Tha mi a' faireachdainn beatha ag èirigh timcheall orm, agus a-staigh annam."
"I feel life rising around me, and within me."
Visualize yourself sitting in a clearing as dawn breaks. The air is crisp and cool, but carries the promise of warmth. Dewdrops glisten on new grass. Birds call to one another, announcing the day. The scent of damp earth and new growth fills your nostrils. Feel your connection to this awakening world growing stronger with each breath.
Body of the Working | Corp
"Anns an àm seo de bhlàthachadh agus ath-nuadhachadh, tha mi a' faireachdainn serenity a' sruthadh tromham."
"In this time of blooming and renewal, I feel serenity flowing through me."
Feel your breath becoming slower, deeper. With each inhale, draw in the peaceful energy of spring's awakening. With each exhale, release any tension, any resistance to the natural calm that is your birthright.
"Mar a tha a' ghrian ag èirigh nas àirde gach latha, mar sin tha mo shìth a' fàs nas doimhne."
"As the sun rises higher each day, so too does my peace grow deeper."
Imagine roots extending from the base of your spine, reaching down into the earth. These roots connect with the vast network of life beneath you—mycelia, root systems, underground streams. Through these connections, the Mother of the Earth sends waves of serenity upward into your body.
"Tha sìth a' Mhàthair na Talmhainn a' gluasad suas tro mo fhreumhan, a' lìonadh mo chorp."
"The peace of the Mother of the Earth moves up through my roots, filling my body."
The Deep Working | An Obair Dhomhain
"Tha mi nam pàirt den ath-bheothachadh seo, den t-sìth seo."
"I am part of this revival, of this peace."
As you sit, become aware of how the serenity of spring differs from the peace of other seasons. This is not the dormant quiet of winter, nor the fulfilled stillness of autumn. This is a dynamic peace, alive with potential, vibrant with promise.
"Mar a tha blàthan a' fosgladh gu sàmhach, mar sin tha mo chridhe a' fosgladh."
"As flowers open quietly, so too does my heart open."
Feel the Mother of the Earth sending healing energy through your roots, cradling you in her nurturing embrace. Allow this energy to suffuse every cell of your body, dissolving tensions, releasing old patterns that no longer serve you.
"Leig dhomh a bhith nam àite sìtheil anns an t-saoghal, mar a tha an earrach fhèin."
"Let me be a peaceful place in the world, as spring itself is."
Imagine your serenity radiating outward, touching all beings around you—the birds in the trees, the insects in the soil, the people in your life. As spring shares its gifts freely, so too can you share your peaceful presence.
Afterthought | Smuain Dheiridh
Take a moment to contemplate:
How might I carry this spring serenity with me through times of chaos and noise? When I feel my peace disturbed, how can I reconnect with the steady, patient awakening energy of the Earth Mother?
Closing Blessing | Beannachd Dheiridh
"A Mhàthair na Talmhainn, tapadh leat airson do shìth. Cumaidh mi do ghliocas nam chridhe."
"Mother of the Earth, thank you for your peace. I will keep your wisdom in my heart."
"Mar a tha an earrach a' toirt beatha às ùr, mar sin bheir mi sìth às ùr don t-saoghal, gach latha, gach anail."
"As spring brings renewed life, so will I bring renewed peace to the world, each day, each breath."
Feel yourself fully present in your body once more. Wiggle your fingers and toes. When you are ready, open your eyes, carrying the serenity of spring and the healing of the Earth Mother with you.
I'm getting better at sounding out the words. It's soothing either way. Thank you. Remind me to show you my plant room one day. ;)
This always helps me. I’ve been so sick, and so heart-sick, and your words are so beautiful and helpful.
