Physical Setting & Preparation
Find a place where you can experience both natural sounds and periods of relative quiet—perhaps a woodland edge where bird calls punctuate moments of silence, a meadow where breezes intermittently rustle grasses, or near water that alternately ripples and stills. Bring a small bell or natural object that can create sound (a stone to tap against wood, or shells that can be gently clicked together). Begin by sitting or standing in a balanced position, eyes either softly closed or with an unfocused gaze, allowing your breathing to find its natural rhythm without forcing.
