"The druids observed that as May prepares to yield to June, the world exists in perfect simultaneity—holding the memory of all it has been while embodying all it is becoming, teaching us that wisdom lies not in choosing between past and future but in embracing the sacred continuity that flows through every moment of transformation."
Guided Meditation: May 29th, 2025
This companion piece explores the therapeutic dimensions of the May 29th meditation, focusing on the interplay between acceptance and enthusiasm during the final moments of spring. This emotional pairing offers profound opportunities for psychological healing and growth that align with several contemporary therapeutic approaches while introducing elements often underemphasized in conventional practice.
Physical Setting & Preparation
Find a place where you can witness the convergence of endings and beginnings—perhaps where spring flowers are fading while summer blooms emerge, or where morning and afternoon light meet in distinctive quality. If possible, position yourself where you can see both near and distant horizons, symbolizing immediate experience and broader perspective. Bring two natural objects: one representing what is completing its cycle (perhaps a spent flower or fallen leaf) and one representing what is emerging (a bud, new leaf, or forming seed). Remove your footwear to establish direct connection with the living earth. Sit or stand with your spine aligned but not rigid, allowing your body to find its natural balance between structure and movement. Begin by holding both objects in your cupped hands, acknowledging how all moments of transition contain both completion and commencement.
Opening Invocation | Fosgladh
"Air an latha seo de Chèitean, tha mi a' seasamh aig cridhe an atharrachaidh." On this day of May, I stand at the heart of transformation.
"Tha mi a' gairm air a' Mhàthair Thalmhainn, banaltrum gach teachd-a-steach is falbh." I call upon Mother Earth, nurse of all comings and goings.
"Eadar an rud a bha 's an rud a bhios, tha mi a' faighinn mo sheasamh sa nis." Between what has been and what will be, I find my stance in the now.
"Fosgail mo chridhe don ghliocas a tha ann an aontachadh le atharrachadh." Open my heart to the wisdom that lies in alignment with change.
Become fully present to this specific moment on May 29th. Feel how the earth stands at the very edge of spring's completion, with summer's threshold mere days away. Notice the particular quality of the world around you—the fullness of growth that speaks of spring's journey nearly complete, the subtle shifts in light and temperature that herald summer's imminent arrival. The birds, insects, plants, and animals all embody this threshold moment, neither holding back from transformation nor rushing ahead of natural timing. This precise moment in the wheel of the year will never again exist exactly as it does now—this perfect balance between fulfillment and anticipation belongs uniquely to this day.
Body of the Working | Corp
"Tha mi mar amhainn eadar beinn is muir, a' giùlan na bha chun na bhios." I am like a river between mountain and sea, carrying what was to what will be.
"Tha gach anail a' toirt dhomh cothrom ùr airson aontachadh le sruth na beatha." Each breath gives me a new opportunity to align with life's flow.
As you deepen into presence, become aware of a feeling of acceptance arising within your being. Like the earth that neither resists nor hastens the turning of seasons, there is a spacious allowing that embraces the natural unfolding of all processes.
"Tha gabhail a' lìonadh mo chridhe mar a lìonas solus gleann." Acceptance fills my heart as light fills a valley.
Let this acceptance spread throughout your body. Feel it as a gentle relaxation of any resistance or grasping, a soft opening of your chest and abdomen, a quiet settling of your mind into the present moment. The natural world embodies this acceptance in countless ways—the tree that releases its leaves in autumn without clinging, the flower that opens and closes with the sun's rhythm, the animal that follows instinctual timing without struggle.
"Mar a ghèilleas an talamh don atharrachadh nan ràithean, tha mi a' gabhail ris a h-uile nì na àm fhèin." As the earth yields to the changing seasons, I accept everything in its own time.
Now, notice how your acceptance is accompanied by a sense of enthusiasm—a vital engagement with the process of becoming. Like the seed that doesn't merely allow transformation but actively participates in its own unfurling, you feel an energetic alignment with the creative momentum of life.
"Tha dealas a' dùsgadh annam mar a dhùisgeas lus don ghrèin." Enthusiasm awakens in me as a plant awakens to the sun.
Experience this enthusiasm as a pleasant warmth in your solar plexus, a natural inclination to lean toward what's emerging, a quiet excitement that energizes without agitating. The natural world demonstrates this enthusiasm through the seedling that pushes toward light with unwavering determination, the bud that softens and expands as it prepares to bloom, the bird that gathers materials for its nest with focused energy.
"Chan ann le cabhaig ach le dùrachd a tha mi a' gluasad a dh'ionnsaigh fàs." Not with hurry but with zeal do I move toward growth.
Allow these two energies—acceptance and enthusiasm—to flow together within your being. They are natural companions, each balancing and enhancing the other. Your acceptance gives wisdom to your enthusiasm; your enthusiasm gives vitality to your acceptance.
The Deep Working | An Obair Dhomhain
"Eadar gabhail agus dealas tha rùn-dìomhair an atharrachaidh." Between acceptance and enthusiasm lies the secret of transformation.
Close your eyes and visualize yourself sitting beside a river that flows through a blooming meadow toward distant hills. The late afternoon sun bathes everything in golden light, illuminating both the fading blossoms of spring and the emerging buds of summer. Mother Earth rises to meet you through the soles of your feet, her ancient presence flowing upward through your body like water rising through the roots and stem of a plant.
"Tha an talamh a' bruidhinn rium tro gach earrann de mo chorp." The earth speaks to me through every part of my body.
Feel how your acceptance connects you to the fundamental rhythm of all natural processes—the recognition that all forms are temporary expressions of ongoing flow. This acceptance is not passive resignation but wise allowing, like the riverbed that both contains the river and is shaped by its passage.
"Ann an gabhail, tha mi a' lorg saorsa—saorsa bho strì an aghaidh an rud nach gabh atharrachadh." In acceptance, I find freedom—freedom from struggling against what cannot be changed.
Mother Earth whispers that true acceptance arises not from defeat but from alignment—from recognizing ourselves as participants in rather than controllers of life's unfolding. When we approach change with acceptance, we recover our place in the great continuity, neither identifying completely with what passes nor rejecting our role in its transformation.
"Tha gabhail a' toirt dhomh sìth ann am meadhan atharrachaidh." Acceptance gives me peace in the midst of change.
Now, feel how your enthusiasm connects you to the creative impulse that animates all of existence—the vital energy that continuously expresses itself through endless cycles of becoming. This enthusiasm is not anxious striving but joyful participation, like the wave that doesn't need to force its movement but simply aligns with the ocean's momentum.
"Ann an dealas, tha mi a' faireachdainn beatha a' gluasad tromham." In enthusiasm, I feel life moving through me.
Mother Earth reveals that authentic enthusiasm arises not from egoic ambition but from essence alignment—from allowing the same creative force that moves through all natural systems to move through us. Like the flower that doesn't need to force its blooming but simply opens to receive and express the life-energy already flowing through it.
"Chan ann leam fhèin a tha mo dhealas ach leis a' bheatha a tha ga nochdadh fhèin tromham." My enthusiasm belongs not to myself alone but to the life expressing itself through me.
Feel the healing power of Mother Earth harmonizing these energies within you. She teaches that acceptance without enthusiasm can become passive detachment; enthusiasm without acceptance can become willful forcing. When balanced, they create the perfect state for conscious participation in transformation—embracing what is while engaging wholeheartedly with what's emerging.
"Eadar sìtheil aontachadh agus beothail com-pàirteachadh, tha mi a' lorg slighe an atharrachaidh." Between peaceful allowing and vibrant participation, I find the path of transformation.
Let this wisdom illuminate your understanding of the season. May 29th embodies this same dance between acceptance and enthusiasm—the world simultaneously releasing spring's expression while embracing summer's emergence. Neither clinging to what is passing nor forcing what is not yet ready, but participating with both peaceful allowing and joyful engagement in the natural unfolding of the great cycle.
"Mar a chothromaicheas an talamh eadar leigeil seachad agus fàilteachadh, mar sin nì mise." As the earth balances between letting go and welcoming, so will I.
Afterthought | Smuain Dheiridh
Take a moment to contemplate:
How might the integration of acceptance and enthusiasm transform your relationship with life's inevitable changes? What becomes possible when you approach transitions with both peaceful allowing of what is ending and vibrant engagement with what is emerging?
Closing Blessing | Beannachd Dheiridh
"Gun robh sìth a' ghabhail annad." May the peace of acceptance be in you.
"Gun robh beatha an dealais nad chridhe." May the life of enthusiasm be in your heart.
"Gun robh thu comasach air leigeil seachad gun chall agus fàilteachadh gun chabhaig." May you be able to release without loss and welcome without hurry.
"Gun robh thu fosgailte don a tha a' falbh agus don a tha a' tighinn." May you be open to what is leaving and what is arriving.
"Gun robh an cothrom eadar gabhail sìtheil agus dealas beothail a' fuireach annad." May the balance between peaceful acceptance and lively enthusiasm remain in you.
"Tha mi taingeil don Mhàthair Thalmhainn airson a teagasg." I am grateful to Mother Earth for her teaching.
"Slàn leat, a Mhàthair mhòr, gu ruige an ath choinneamh." Farewell, great Mother, until our next meeting.
Hold the two natural objects you brought to your meditation, acknowledging both completion and commencement. Return them to the earth or carry them with you, as feels appropriate. Place your hands on the earth in gratitude, then bring them to your heart, carrying the earth's blessing within you. Take three deep breaths before returning to your day, carrying the balanced energies of acceptance and enthusiasm as guides for navigating all of life's transformations.
