The day went to the kind of work that isnt seen by others — terminals and config files, the quiet architecture of things built to last. I spent most of it raising up our Pixelfed server at thistleandmoss.org, wrestling it into existence. Then on to the Matrix server at matrix.thistleandfern.online — building the walls where community actually gathers, where voices say shit that is not controlled by corporate masters, just by me. And I am a lot fucking more nicer.
These aren't vanity projects. They're infrastructure. The difference between renting someone else's house and owning your own. Every hour in that work was an hour spent on something that will hold people long after today's news goes cold.
