Why am I doing what Im doing?
Well here it is friends……
Trans journalists are getting pushed out of the industry.
Writing gigs for trans people, especially on trans issues, have dried up—not just because journalism is struggling overall, but because of the political climate making trans voices even less welcome.Trans issues are more relevant than ever, but the media isn’t stepping up.
With the GOP making anti-trans policies a central focus, you’d think the media would want more trans voices. Instead, they’ve sidelined them, thanks to stuff like the NYT attacking trans youth and the backlash against "wokeness."Things are only getting worse.
Since Trump’s election on an anti-trans platform and the mainstreaming of hate groups, the situation is heading downhill fast. Supporting trans rights could become a fringe, far-left stance for a while. Now, it’s time to pivot.
We should not be giving up on critiquing the mainstream, but also focus more on independent reporting (like this Trans-Mom is doing). We should want to publish the stories big outlets are ignoring. The focus is shifting to stories of resistance.
The goal is to highlight how trans people are fighting back, emphasizing their courage and independence, instead of begging for acceptance from the mainstream.People respect trans boldness and authenticity.
Conversations with allies show that many admire us (Trans Persons) for being true to ourselves, rebellious, and courageous. These qualities resonate, even with people who aren’t deeply involved in trans issues.Mainstream media is crumbling under pressure.
With mainstream outlets backing off from tough topics and people self-censoring out of fear, We should see our role as counter-programming against this conformity. No more playing the victim card.
The old strategy of trying to appear moderate and pleading for understanding hasn’t worked. Instead, I personally will focus on showcasing unapologetic trans voices and acts of resistance.Rebellion is the new strategy.
The plan is to inspire the broader public with stories of trans resilience and defiance, leaning into the symbolism of courage and independence rather than asking for protection.
