Trump Does Not Give a Shit About Women's Rights: Trump's Anti Transgender Orders are Dismantling Them ….
The Facade of Protection
When Donald Trump signed the "No Men in Women's Sports" executive order last month, he claimed it would "protect the sanctity of women's sports." At his Mar-a-Lago signing ceremony, Trump declared, "We're going to protect our beautiful women athletes, folks. Nobody has protected women more than me, maybe ever in history." (Thompson, Washington Post, Jan 15, 2025)
But civil rights experts and women's advocacy groups are calling bullshit. The executive orders, which went into effect immediately, reach far beyond their stated purpose of regulating sports participation. They represent what legal scholars are calling a "systematic dismantling" of women's rights and protections across multiple sectors.
The Military Mess
Perhaps the most damaging immediate impact has been the halt of sexual assault prevention programs across all branches of the military. The Pentagon's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) has been forced to suspend operations pending a "review of terminology" mandated by the orders.
"This is absolutely fucked up," says retired Colonel Sarah Rodriguez, former director of SAPRO. "We've had to stop vital training programs because the executive order classifies terms like 'female assault victim' as potentially discriminatory language." (Rodriguez, Military Times, Feb 1, 2025)
The numbers are damning: Since the program's suspension, reports of sexual assault in the military have increased by 27% (Department of Defense Quarterly Report, Jan 2025). Yet the administration continues to stonewall requests to resume the programs.
Education Under Attack
Title IX, the cornerstone of gender equality in education for the past 50 years, hasn't escaped this assault on women's rights. The Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights has issued new "clarifying guidance" that effectively guts key protections.
Dr. Elizabeth Warren, Professor of Law at Harvard University (no relation to the Senator), explains: "They're using this bullshit definition of 'biological sex' to challenge any Title IX complaint that doesn't fit their narrow worldview. It's not just affecting trans students – it's affecting all women." (Warren, Harvard Law Review, Dec 2024)
Recent cases highlight the absurdity:
A female student's sexual harassment complaint was dismissed because she couldn't prove she met the order's definition of "woman"
A women's college lost federal funding for refusing to implement "biological sex verification" procedures
Multiple women's sports programs have been defunded for refusing to implement invasive "sex verification" testing
The Research Roadblock
Perhaps the most insidious aspect of these orders is their impact on scientific research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has been forced to suspend or defund research projects that include terms like "women," "female," and "trauma" pending review under the new guidelines.
Dr. James Chen, Director of Research at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, didn't mince words: "This is fucking devastating to women's health research. We've had to halt critical studies on breast cancer, maternal mortality, and sexual assault trauma because the terminology doesn't comply with these asinine orders." (Medical Research Journal, Jan 2025)
The Broader Strategy
Civil rights attorneys and policy experts argue these orders represent a calculated strategy to roll back women's rights under the smokescreen of anti-trans panic.
"Trump doesn't give a damn about protecting women," says Gloria Steinem in a recent interview. "This is about control, pure and simple. They're using transphobia as a Trojan horse to dismantle women's rights across the board." (Steinem, Ms. Magazine, Feb 2025)
The evidence supports this assessment. In private meetings, Trump reportedly told advisers, "This trans thing is great. We can do whatever we want as long as we say it's about protecting women." (Anonymous White House Source, New York Times, Jan 2025)
The Resistance
Women's rights organizations aren't taking this lying down. A coalition of civil rights groups has filed multiple lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the orders. The National Organization for Women (NOW) has organized nationwide protests, and several state governors have announced they will not comply with the orders.
"These orders are a fucking travesty," says NOW President Jennifer Klein. "They're not protecting women – they're erasing us. And we're not going to stand for it." (Klein, NOW Press Conference, Feb 2025)
The Real Impact
While the legal battles play out in court, real women are suffering real consequences:
Sexual assault survivors in the military are being denied support services
Female students are losing educational protections
Critical health research benefiting women has been halted
Women's sports programs are being gutted by expensive and invasive requirements
Looking Ahead
Legal experts predict these orders will eventually be struck down by the courts, but the damage being done in the meantime is severe and potentially long-lasting.
"Every day these orders remain in effect is another day of lost progress," says Dr. Martinez. "We're seeing the systematic dismantling of 50 years of progress in women's rights, all under the bullshit pretense of 'protection.'"
The irony is palpable. In trying to exclude trans women from women's spaces, Trump's orders have managed to make those spaces more dangerous and less accessible for all women. It's a stark reminder that attacks on any women's rights ultimately threaten all women's rights.
