Couldn’t agree more. Support from family and friends is paramount but when that goes away we form our own communities and extended families with others who understand and are brothers and sisters in the fight along with allies and supporters.

Children see, observe, assess - is this person/parent/teacher/coach safe to ask questions of about personal feelings as they sort out their gender identity. Any small indication of them being open to discuss their feelings is a step forward for them.

Personally I managed to survive the late 60's to early 70's mostly by ending up in a place where I was accepted and allowed to explore with peers.
