Before we get lost in scholarly bullshit about "religious syncretism" and "cultural adaptation," let's call this what it actually is: the Hebrew deity Yahweh is a fucking composite character assembled from the dismembered corpses of Canaanite gods.
Not *all* religions. Contemporary Neopaganism, which includes Wicca, Druidry, Asartru and other variations, often venerate the divine feminine. I am most familiar with Wicca, which has no definitive holy text, no Wiccan Bible or Pope. The Goddess is worshipped as well as the God. She is commonly regarded as first among equals, and covens are led by a High Priestess- sometimes with a High Priest, sometimes not.
I realize you are a Druid Wendy. I was not trying to mansplain something to you that you know more about than me. I just wanted to reply to E.A.'s quotes that "Religions are in place to uphold patriarchy" and "Religious texts are written by men, and are full of lies." While that by and large holds true for the Abrahimic Monotheistic faiths, it does not apply to all religions and spiritualities (as you are quite aware.)
This no different than Christianity appropriating many Celtic pagan traditions. Itβs all about control. π

You are talking to a Druid woman (OBOD), who does indeed worship the "mother" as the spirit of the whole.

Thank you for that!
I'm familiar with these concepts from reading lots of women's spirituality stuff, but you really wrapped it up concisely & tied it with a bow!
(Plus, Loving those chewy words:
henotheistic & deuteronomistic..)
Great stuff! Thx!
Religions are in place to uphold patriarchy.
Patriarchy is about the control, domination, and ownership of others, especially females.
Patriarchy harms all people.
Religious texts are written by men, and are full of lies.
great scholarly piece about nonsense...but dangerous pernicious nonsense that people use as a weapon
Menβs desire to be god is the death of us all
Its used to try to exterminate me (and those like me). So, Ill use it as a weapon back.
