I'm a fan. I've so much to say (about this and about other articles linked to your stack) but lack . . . courage, maybe. Maybe brains. You're very smart; I'm beneath you.

My dad used to tell me, "Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see." I've recently come to understand that that doesn't go far enough to protect ones self. You must believe nothing of what you hear, nothing of what you see, and also nothing of what you think you know.

I don't want to sound stupid. Pride slows me down lol.

There's no doubt similarities, I'm sure not coincident, but I wonder (because I have no proof) who copied who?

This is great! If you haven't before, I NEED you to read, "When God Was A Woman" by researcher Merlin Stone. She spent 10yrs studying and lays out in the book the history of the purposeful stamping-out and re-writing of theology to erase the goddess-worship that prevailed prior to northern invaders who brought mono-theistic "mountain god" ideas. It's extremely eye-opening and no one talks about it. I'd love to see you connect the dots between that scholarship and the revision laid out here!πŸ™

I always just heard the stories, I never thought deeply on where the stories were derived. Thanks for giving substance/background.

This article was a lot to take in. I shared it on Facebook. I think more people need to read this!! Unfortunately I think Facebook buries a lot of what I share so it never floats up into people’s feeds. Plus the privacy settings for what I share is just to friends not public.

This part:

β€œThe City-Building Motif

Mesopotamian literature is filled with stories of divine city-building and the establishment of civilization.” Reminds me of those fucktwads that want to build and control their own personal cities.

OK, I couldn’t help myself, but when I read this part β€˜β€œAkkadian Bab-ilu (π’†π’€π’Šπ’† ), "Gate of God."’ all I could hear in my head was Ricky Ricardo singing out Babalu!!! (I don’t know why but I’ve been making references to Ricky Ricardo catch phrases from I Love Lucy lately….)
