I read this post with two takeaways... First, that I am again embarrassed by my Christian upbringing. (I identify as a recovering Catholic.) And second, that in the last twenty, or more, years, I have been feeling somewhat "two-spirited" myself. Thank you, Wendy, for this history of We-Wha. I'm learning to address the fact, that to myself I'm so far from being a girlie girl that I've always felt out of place. It's high time I owned this feeling with zero shame or regret. Fuck the haters!

Fascinating. I have always been saddened and infuriated at the fate of America's indigenous peoples. The whole concept of "reservations" and cultural annihilation always seemed at odds with what this country said it stood for as outlined in it's Constitution. And now America is trying to do it again with the deportation of non-white residents regardless of their American citizenship or legality. Frankly, I am beginning to wish for the "Great Replacement Theory" to actually happen. Soon. Maybe the non-white minority will have more wisdom and compassion than the current majority. If not, well, Karma sucks, folks.

It never ceases to amaze me how many so called “primitive” people often have such advanced and developed spectrums of gender identity and expression. So advanced over rigid modern gender binary.
