The outcome of this disfigurement of Hebrew text is not funny, but I found myself laughing about halfway through when I encountered this sentence: "Hebrew construction of prophetic perfect - using past tense for future certainty - gets completely lost in translation".

There isn't a child since the beginning of mankind who does not understand "prophetic perfect". Who has not heard some version of parental thunder "If you do that again, I will knock you into next week"? On some level, the child knows that is not going to happen in reality, but is likely smart enough not to want to test it.

The only conclusion to draw is that Christian theologians were/are a bunch of power-hungry crooks preying on the ignorance of their followers. And not likely to change any time soon.
