I always felt like creators were given a little more freedom to be βdifferentβ when watching all the LGBTQ+ creators. I donβt know which comes first - I came up with my first novel idea when I was seven or eight years old (probably seven, if I add in the fact the summer I was eight was at Mariannβs and not home, and I remember working on the story on the floor of our living room) - at that time, in a fundamentalist Baptist, heteronormative world, I had not other expectation but to one day marry a man and make babies. Even then I was working on art, prose, poetry and music.
Christianity and Islam have been doing it to Queer and other despised, marginalized people from the inception of their religions of hatred, judgement, condemnation and murder! Not just Queer folks, but: Africans; Celtic Peoples; Hindus; Southeast Asians; Aboriginal/First Nations Peoples!
Art, theater, literature, music, dance, cuisine, healing, philosophy, technology, on and on!!!!
