I’d love you to do a deep dive into the Republicans’ decision, back around 1970, to be the “party of principles,” as opposed to the party of objective reality, in order to distinguish themselves from the Dems and appeal to the Christian base.
TY. When I was in 8th grade we had “SRAreaders,” 4-page brochures with a 500 word essay & comprehension questions. I still remember 1: “ She is skinny, you are thin, I am svelte.” It was about how words that mean basically the same thing have overtones of insult, neutral & complimentary meanings. Now apply that to Opinions, Beliefs, and Principles.
Hmmm. A government shutdown in the midst of a trade war. That should work out well…
