Everyone I know didn't vote for this . I can't talk to people because I don't want to upset anyone. So thanks Wendy for this site. At least I can read what kindred spirits say. Love to all out there . Liz

I'm getting to the point where I don't want to read the news every morning. I've been disciplined about checking the AP wire every morning as soon as I get up, but it's just so fucking depressing. I'm going to turn 60 in a few months and instead of planning to retire in another five years or so, now I'm thinking I'm going to keep working until I'm dead. Granted, at 65 I wouldn't have retired completely, I planned to go part-time. But since the social security I've been paying into since I was 16 is now being considered an entitlement that the government can claw back from me even though I kept my half of the bargain, I am not sure I can afford to do even that.

I just wish I could wake up some morning and find out that the entire Washington establishment disappeared overnight.

In reading Goldberg's article, I was struck by how stupidly pre-adolescent the comments were between the government officials. Like 11 year old boys playing war games. Simply having actual military decisions in the hands of these idiots is horrific enough without the egregious lack of messaging security. 🀬

In a "real" administration Mike Waltz would have fallen on his sword as soon as Goldberg told him what had happened. But we have the Speaker of the House giving him a pass ... what happened to the guys who spent the last 2 years trying to impeach Biden for ... something, anything??

the back-to-the iffice people do not get to do this over a group chat, secure official government channels, or in this case, clearly not. this is all hands on deck in the war room stuff, not top people in Senate confirmed positions casually chatting about their day as they're busy with other important matters. none of these people had anything more important going on.

Signal may be an encrypted application, but it is not secure. It’s used by the public. The use of this off the shelf app also indicates they were having these conversations on their cell phones, in public, and not where they should have been to discuss defense operations. This should have been in a Secured room, a SCI-FI, where no one even brings their iwatches. These are the worst violations of proper security before we even get to including the wrong person, not noticing he was there, and not even checking when he left the chat. These conversations happed multiple days. Who are these people?.

I may not know how to load , but I sure as heck know how proper security measures work.

Puts me in mind of orange critter I, when he had a chat on the patio and Mar a Lago with the Japanese representative, and again, secured information right there with all the guests looking on. No Operational Security at all. Good thing we don’t have allies anymore, because this would show them their information isn’t any safer than a cupcake in a hurricane.

When Trump constantly gives the US’ top secrets to their enemies I find this sadly funny when there’s treason happening at every turn.

My gob is thoroughly smacked. This is just unfucking believable. They are using Signal? Are you telling me that the goddamn military doesn't have secure comms devices? And why are people like Suzie Wiles in the loop?

Just asking, when is it dangerous negligence and when is it whistle-+blowing? Under all the current circumstances, why should the government dare think it is still the global police force. Or does trump just get despondent when he is not ruining people’s lives? Will it soon be time in this term to let him play war games with another Mother of All Bombs? I think β€œfor the children” was his excuse to bomb the Syrian airport. I bet Putin wasn’t best pleased.

Oh, it gets better. In the live roundup you’ll note that Speaker Mike Johnson has already come out and said that there is NO REASON that walz or hegseth should be held at fault for it either. https://thistleandmoss.com/p/live-roundup-day-whatever-in-the
